When I approached this paper only one theme came to mind, so I really wanted to write about it. The theme that came to mind is to never expect anything from God. You can ask for things, and have faith in him, but never to expect an answer, or a yes, or anything from God. The Lord always does whatever is best for you, and sometimes that is not what you think it is. This applies to the book of Job because Job kind of expects an answer from God, because of what he has gone through he thinks he deserves an answer. What God does when he answers Job is mind blowing.
I have a few examples from scripture that really stood out to me. One example is a verse from Job 39, its 39:26 "Does the Hawk take flight by your wisdom, and spread its wings toward the south?" This stuck out to me because it really shows the true power God has. It shows how amazing Gods creativeness was when he created the Earth, because he programmed that bird to know how to fly south. That verse just shows Gods true intelligence. The verse shows that Job, although being the humble and faithful man he is, is not even worthy to stand in Gods presence, because Job did not create the Earth, or anything on it. My next favorite verse in Job is Job 40:9.. " Do you have an arm like God's, and can your voice thunder like this?" This verse made me stop my reading, and really think about what situation Job is in right now, The Lord is truly speaking to him, God is telling Job of how unworthy he really is to be expecting an answer, because Job has no arm like God's, or can make his voice thunder. I don't know how I would re-act in this situation. Jobs response to God is just, and he knows he is not worthy, and he says he will repent, and he despises himself.
I think this reveals Gods sovereignty, obviously. I think that more than that it shows God's power, when you read all of those things God says to Job about who God is, and what he has done, it truly is mind bottling. What this reveals about human suffering is that the Lord knows whats best for you, he knows everything in the future, so how could you know whats best? God will provide at all times in the end. Its shows that God is the father almighty, and hes done everything, and he knows everything. You never need to expect an answer, you just need to have faith that God does whats best for you.

Summary: Chp 12- The Lord came to Abraham and told him to leave his country and go to the land that he will show him. He told Abraham that he will bless him abuduntly and make his name famous. The Lord sais he will bless all of the people who bless Abraham. and curse all who dont. and Abrahams whole family will be blessed. So Abraham departed with his nephew Lot, he was 75 years old at the time. He brought his wife and a lot of their possesions to the land of Canaan. Abraham built an alter there to worship the lord on the mountains east of Bethel. Abraham went in lived in Eygpt for awhile because the famine was too much to bear. Abraham then told Sarai to tell everyone that they are brother and sister, because if the Pharough knew they were husband and wife, he would kill Abram and take Sarai. God then tells the pharoah that the woman is married and he gave sarai back to Abraham.
CHP 13- Abraham went out of Egypt and headed towards Negeb. Abraham was now rich in livestock, gold, and silver. Abraham went back to where he built his first Altar and called to the lord. Lot then took the Jordan valley.. (didnt really understand 4-14).. Then Lot left Abraham(?)
CHP14- There was a lot of fighting going on. The victors took all the wealth of Gomorrah and all the supplies and the provisions and departed. They also took Lot. When Abraham heard his nephew was captured, he armed and trained men and pursued the enemy. he attacked them and routed them as far as Dan. He then attacked an routed as far as damascus. He then brought back his Nephew Lot, all the possesions, and all the women. The kin of Sodom then wanted to meet Abraham in the King Valley. He then blessed Abraham. The King then asked to take all of Abrahams people, but Abe told the King that he sworn to the God of all things that he would not make a thread of anything that is his.
CHP15- God then speaks to Abe through a vision, and he says that He is Abes shield, and that his reward would be great. Abe is confused because he is fatherless. God then says (I think) that Abe will have a baby. God then tells Abe to go outside and count the stars and that is what his descendents shall be. God then tells Abraham to get a 3 year old Heiffer and a pigeon, and a Ram, and a female goat. Abram cut them in half. When dark came Abe fell into a very deep sleep and became oppressed. God then says that his descendents will be in slavery for 400 years. God then sais Abe will return to his fathers and die at an old age. God then made a promise to Abe, that his descendents shall get all this land, rivers, and mountains.
Verse: Genesis 12:3

Verse: Genesis 12:3
"I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." I think this verse is cool because not only will God bless Abraham, but he will bless all who bless him.
Application: I would say the best way to apply this to my life is to do what God says, even if it is not clear. Such as when God speaks to Abraham through a vision, I feel like sometimes God has spoken to me through visions and I havent listened, but my life would probably be better if I had listened to him. So I would for sure say that I need to listen to even the faintest sign form God. I feel my life would improve more than it already has.

Summary: CHP 6- God was sad because of all the sin and violence that now filled the earth. He gave man 120 to clean up their act basically, or he'd send a flood. The lord regretted making man and he will destroy everything that he has made. God saw Noah as a just and rightous man who followed God. God told Noah he is going to destroy all flesh. God told Noah to make a giant boat measuring 450 cubitsx75cubits. He told Noah to make the boat waterproof and made of Cyprus wood. Also to have a window at the top for light. God then promises Noah to save his family in the Ark. He tells Noah to grab 7 pairs of every animal.
CHP 7- Lord then tells Noah he needs to bring clean animals onto the boat. He says in 7 days the flood is coming. Noah did all the Lord asked him to, and Noah was 600 years old. Noah and his family waited on the Ark while it rained, and then they waited on the ark until the land dried.
CHP8- Noah sent out ravens to see if the land was dry and the second time the ravens brought back an olive leaf which meant that the land was dry. The third time the ravens did not return. That meant the land was dry and it was time to exit the Ark. The Lord God destroyed everyone but Noah and his family. Lord then told him to be fruitful and multiply on the land. Noah then builds an altar to give thanks to the Lord, God was pleased and then promised to never send a flood over the earth again.
CHP9- God blessed Noah and told him to fill the earth. Then he said the beasts shall fear you. God then says never again will the be a wipeout of all flesh. He then makes a rainbow to signify that he will never flood the Earth again. Noah lived to be 950 years old.
Verse: Genesis 21-"When the lord smelled the pleasing odor, the lord said to himself, I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the imagination of mans heart is evil and wicked from his youth. neither will I ever again smite and destroy every living thing, as I have done."
Application: Id say my application of these four chapters would be to live for christ even more, I am trying to avoid a fluffy cloud answer.. but what it sounded like to me is that Noah, out of everyone was chosen to be saved, and he could not have been the only christ follower, so if this flood were to happen again, I know God would have not selected my family and I to be saved. We live in a messed up world but Noah somehow found how to be that pleasing to God, I would love to be like Noah, and do every single thing through Christ.

In the beggining God created the heavens and earth. Darkness was over the earth and god was hovering over it. After he created the heaven and earth god said "Let there be light" and there was light. He then called the light "day" and the dark "night". There was evening and there was morning. Then god created the ocean and the clouds. God then said let the water under the light be gathered to one place, and land was created. Then God made the land produce vegetation. Then god made the seasons. Then God continued on to make the fish in the sea. Then he made the birds and animals. Then God made all the livestock and animals according to their time. He then sais that humans are to rule over all animals. and we have dominion over the earth. God then created man into his image, and had them increase in number. he then gives us all the seed-bearing plants. After God did all this in 6 days, he rested on the 7th day.
God then created Adam from the dust of the ground and breathed life into his nostrils. God then made a garden in th east called Eden, it had all sort of plants and such, including the tree of good and evil, and the tree of knowledge. He placed Adam in the Garden. The lord told Adam not to eat from the tree of good and evil, because he will surely die. Adam had all control over the garden. God then gave Adam the job of naming all the animals and livestock. God then caused Adam to fall into deep sleep, and while he was sleeping God created woman out of a rib from Adam, Adam then named the being a "woman". Adam and Eve were both naked, and they felt no shame.
The serpent then Eve that she will not die from the tree of good and evil. Adam and Eve ate from the tree. They all of the sudden became aware of the fact that they were naked. God came down and asked where are you? Adam and Eve hid from God. God then banished them from the Garden of Eden.
Main Verse: Genesis 1:27- "Then God said, let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." This verse stuck out to me because I was curious why God says "Us". I also was intrigued that God chose us, out of all things, to take care of his creation.
Application: In my life, I need to not let evil tempt me, like it did to Eve. One thing I need to improve on is my language. Coming from a public school, I used bad language. Although I already have improved dramatically on using better language.
